How to get to Lee MillsThe Knitting & Crochet Guild Collection … between 'The Boot & Shoe' and 'The White Horse' in Scholes From west:Aim for Manchester M60 ring motorway From north: go clockwise leaving M60 at junction 22 following signs to Oldham, then initially follow signs to Huddersfield (A62), but shortly take A669 (Leeds Road) and join A635 at Greenfield to continue over Saddleworth Moor to Holmfirth. From south: go anti-clockwise around M60 leaving at junction 24 and go east along M67 and then A628; continue through Longdendale and then leave A628 and take a left A6204 going north to Holmfirth. From Holmfirth : at the traffic lights in the middle turn right and then almost immediately left and continue on A635 to New Mill
Turn right in New Mill onto A616 …
… and drive about half a mile until you see the right fork down to Scholes. After another 100m turn right directly in front of the White Horse Oh … if you happen to miss the right fork, just drive a little further past the Red Lion (recommended for a good lunch), and then take the next right, and you will see the White Horse. Continue up the hill (Scholes Road), bending left (Park Side) and in about 200m you will see the road bending to the right. SatNav Warning: do not rely exclusively on your SatNav or you might end up in a nearby road called 'White Leas Gardens'! On your left is a mini-carpark and a small road (Leas Gardens) and next to both of them on the bend a driveway with open maroon/brown gates. (Hopefully a K&CG sign and arrow will be on this gate the day you go.
If you see the Boot & Shoe pub you have gone too far. Go through the gated area, up the slope and turn with it to the right. Carry on past what used to be Gibson & Booth Accountants and keep bearing right into a large open space. Unit 4 is on your left – park outside there … free! |
