– Reading Museum, Blagrave Street, 1.45-3.45 from January 2008. The museum is in the Town Hall Building opposite the rear of M&S. Meetings are not always in the same room, but styaff will direct attendees to the correct room. Visitors always welcome. If you don't attttend regularly, check the programme for supplies. Tapestry Crochet: Member, Maureen McIlwraith will kick off the New Year by leading a workshop on the technique of tapestry crochet.
Bring: A crochet hook sized at least 4mm plus double knitting or thicker yarn. Canvas for the foundation will be provided.
10 Reading Branch
Mosaic Patterns.  These slip stitch patterns are another way of using variegated yarns to good effect.  Only one yarn is used at once so there is no tangling which can make intarsia or fairisle patterns rather daunting.  Bring two contrasting yarns and some variegated yarn if you like

Faroese Shawl workshop:Sally Holmes will lead a workshop in which participants will make a shawl to fit a teddy or doll, and gain an understanding of the shaping and sizing of a knitted, top-down, Faroese shawl.
Bring:a teddy or doll, 50g or so of four ply or DK smooth yarn and a circular needle that gives a soft drapey fabric with that  yarn - usually, a size or two up from what you’d use for stocking  stitch.   A spare circular needle, in a size or two smaller, will help, with the casting on but a foot or so of 1/4" ribbon  will substitute

Entrelac (without the fiddly triangles): Traditional approaches to entrelac (literally 'entwined') knitting require triangles at all the edges. Emily Lynne Wilcox's method does not. Mary Hawkins will show how to work this construction technique. It is equally suitable for crochet although Mary will concentrate on knitting.
